Nice hotel at a reasonable price
We were in room 205, which is a “suite” at the back of the building, with windows looking out on Campo San Toma. Not so much a suite as a good sized, very nicely decorated room with a bathroom. The room is only accessible through the outdoor courtyard garden and up a flight of stairs – no elevator.
Nice high ceilings and characterful decor that felt quite Venetian.
Quite a lot of wardrobe space for a hotel room.
All seemed very clean. Some noise in evenings from Campo San Toma, including live music, but always finished at a reasonable time. Closing wooden shutters as well as windows insulated noise well.
Pretty good selection of food at breakfast. Eggs made to order scrambled or fried, as well as pancakes and crepes.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Quite a convenient location, just across the Grand Canal from the centre of Venice. 2 min walk to S. Toma pier where you can get the water bus or taxi, or take the gondola ferry service across the Grand Canal for €2 pp. Quite a few very nice restaurants, bars and cafes within short walking distance. Handy little supermarket on just around the corner.
WiFi internet good: 87 Mbps down, 67 Mbps up.
Not so good things:
The Heating/Aircon controls were awkward and idiosyncratic. It seemed that the cooling was not working at all, and I suspect that as it was winter the hotel had turned them off to save energy — this was not a problem as such, except the heating was very “enthusiastic”, especially in the bathroom, and we struggled to sleep the first night due to the excessive warmth. By the second night I had got the hang of controlling the heat in the bedroom, with the help of opening windows for a while, although the bathroom radiators remained blasting out heat 24x7.
No low level lighting controllable from bedside.
Paper cups in room — we borrowed proper ceramic mugs from the bar/breakfast room.
The rainfall shower head needs a thorough descaling or replacement.
Water pressure quite low in shower.

A romantic and generous small hotel.
We knew the hotel’s last cation would be perfect for us, and realised you want to book a garden room, not a canal room, if you seek a quiet stay. Staff in the very small reception area proved efficient, but it was Valentina in this team who exuded warmth and welcome and seemed supportive of us as individual travellers. The lift is curiously basic, but does its job between two floors . Our room was opulently decorated (rococo in a fulsome vein) and was spacious with good furniture and lighting. The electrically closing curtains were an impressive convenience. Our bathroom was also spacious and with good fitments. We do d not sleep well the first night as the bed/mattress was very uncomfortably hard (as mentioned by some other guests), but the housekeeping team were wonderfully positive and supportive the next day, placing a layer of thin duvets under the bottom sheet to create a much softer “topper”. We then slept well. This helpfulness was also shown by the breakfast team who were cheerful and could never do enough for you. In several decades of visiting Venice we have never enjoyed such a varied and generous breakfast offer, far beyond the customary bare buffet. We also loved the spirit of hospitality shown by the hotel’s friendly tradition of offering a glass menu f very good Prosecco to guests each evening. It started the adventure of the night in a very pleasing way!

Amazing hotel in quiet location
A very beautiful hotel in a great location. Room was very quiet and the shutters blocked out all the light! The decor is amazing throughout the hotel. Slight noise from outside when people started using delivery trolleys in the morning but I think you would find this anywhere! Staff were very friendly and breakfast was lovely. It was about a 10 minute walk to the train / bus station, 10 minutes to Rialto Bridge and 20 minutes to St. Mark’s Square. We would definitely stay here if we return to Venice.

Beware
Although the location and rooms are nice, beware that the hotel staff will try to scam you. The front desk will recommend and make reservations at unpopular restaurants to get a kickback from the restaurant. Also if they call a water taxi for you, they want payment at the hotel in cash for the taxi so they can pocket the extra $10 euros. If you book here, there are 3 restaurants steps away that are absolutely delicious. If you need a water taxi, call your own and save $10 euros.

It was no frills – dark and gloomy chandelier had a broken lightbulb in it, and we were told to just be careful and not touch it. This was very inconvenient as it was a bedside sconces. Absolutely no frills and for the cost not worth it.

Great Venice Hotel
After going through reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to book a short stay at the Palazetto Madonna in Venice. This was a great decision and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this small but quaint establishment. It is located a short walk from the San Tomà Vaporetto stop point and its central location makes walking to St Marks Square both enjoyable and interesting. Our room was spacious and typically Venetian with an extremely modern bathroom. A coffee machine, kettle and fridge were also provided in the room. The staff were all helpful and courteous but some of them battled with English. If you are looking for a small, excellent hotel in Venice then the Palazetto Madonna could be a great choice. We had a fantastic stay and would not even consider staying elsewhere on our return to Venice.

Perfect Quaint hotel in Venice !
Palazzetto Madonna is a true hidden gem in Venice. The hotel can be reached directly by private water taxi—a big plus for convenience. I highly recommend booking the water taxi in advance; it’s about €80 from the train station, but well worth the splurge for couples or if you’re traveling with heavy luggage.
The rooms have a vintage charm and are beautifully kept, with clean beds and great housekeeping. We stayed in Room 6, right next to the breakfast area. At first, we were worried about potential noise, but the soundproofing was excellent—we didn’t hear a thing. A special perk of Room 6 is that it opens to the garden courtyard; we even enjoyed the morning rain with the door open, which felt magical.
Breakfast was quick and nice, setting us up for the day. The biggest surprise? The hotel is right next to two of the best restaurants in Venice, which made dining incredibly easy. We also loved that it’s tucked away from the busy bridges and squares, offering peace and quiet at night. Just keep in mind that walking back takes about 25 minutes from Rialto, and some alleys are unlit, so a little extra caution is needed.
The nearest water taxi stop is only a 3-minute walk, perfect for exploring different parts of the city. The only minor inconvenience is that there isn’t an ironing board in the room—you’ll need to go to the first floor where they’ll set one up for you.
Overall, this hotel is perfect for couples who want a romantic, authentic Venetian stay away from the crowds. I would definitely come back again.

Our stay was good and the hotel was lovely, if we had one complaint it was that our window didnt have a view apart from a brick wall of a nearby building.
